Focus on vocational training and craft village development

(Baonghean.vn) -Continuing his visit and working trip to 3 districts in the Northwest of Nghe An, on April 18, comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee worked in Quy Chau district. Accompanying him were comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of departments, branches and sectors in the province.

Before working with the district leaders, comrade Phan Dinh Trac and the delegation visited the toothpick, incense stick and chopstick making facility in Chau Binh commune; visited Hoa Tien 1 and Hoa Tien 2 brocade craft villages, the cage fish farming model in Chau Tien commune; Quy Chau incense craft village in Tan Lac town and some families raising ducks and growing raw materials for incense production.

Working with the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Quy Chau District, the Secretary and the delegation listened to the report on the socio-economic situation of the district. Accordingly, the value of industrial, agricultural, forestry and handicraft production in 2011 all increased compared to 2010, exceeding the set plan. Budget revenue in the area was more than 8 billion VND, an increase of 117.3%. Implementing the planning for new rural construction in 11 communes, up to now, the planning for new rural construction for 7 communes has been approved. Cultural and social activities have developed, gone into depth, and have quality. The situation of national defense, security, and social order and safety is stable, with no sudden changes. Regarding mineral exploration, exploitation and processing, activities are moderate, with low efficiency, and no hot spots.

Concluding the working session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Dinh Trac praised Quy Chau for implementing resolutions, programs and projects very well; the economic and social indicators in 2011 grew quite well, especially the livestock models and traditional craft villages operated effectively. However, the quality of Quy Chau's cadres still has many shortcomings, the poverty rate is high, the new rural construction is slow, traffic accidents, the rate of drug users is increasing, small-scale industry is developing slowly, there is no breakthrough. The district needs to create a change in the quality of the leadership and management team, and innovate working methods. Pay more attention to investing in vocational training, improving skills, applying technical advances to production and livestock, aiming to create a breakthrough in raising large livestock, caged fish, ducks, incense, brocade weaving, rattan and bamboo weaving, and handicrafts; Developing community tourism associated with preserving the unique cultural identity of the Thai people, doing a good job of resettlement for households affected by the Ban Mong irrigation and hydropower project. Doing a good job of ensuring security, national defense, and social order and safety.
