Professor Hong Sang-Pyo, Vice President of KSEIA, commented that the world has been undergoing rapid changes and it is necessary to find solutions to overcome the negative impacts of industrial development on the rural industrial environment to move towards sustainable development. |
Currently, due to the speed of urbanization, Nghe An is facing many difficult-to-solve rural problems due to low public awareness and underdeveloped infrastructure. Some notable rural environmental problems include: Pollution due to residual pesticides, which is a result of lack of understanding about pesticides in the 1960s - 1970s, leaving many chemical burial sites; Rural wastewater treatment.
Up to now, Nghe An has 19/21 districts that have planned and treated solid waste to meet requirements, the province has made efforts to focus on treating pesticide residues. Although some very encouraging results have been achieved, in order to implement the criteria of sustainable development associated with environmental protection, the relevant agencies still need to make more efforts, especially in treating pesticide residues in rural areas.
