Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Head of the Management Board, said that in recent times, the work of collecting artifacts related to the prison life of political prisoners and communists imprisoned by the French colonialists at Hoa Lo has been actively promoted by the Management Board's staff.
Because this is a vivid historical evidence to introduce to visitors the suffering of prisoners as well as the crimes of French colonialism. Accordingly, the relic management board focuses on the system of nearly 2,000 witnesses imprisoned here by writing records and through that to collect artifacts, launching a donation campaign for artifacts to the relic.
In order to enrich the activities of the relic, the relic management board also organizes exhibitions on the subject of prisoners' lives. The exhibition related to the life of American pilots at Hoa Lo is attracting a large number of visitors, especially from the US, Europe and Asia.
In these galleries, the Management Board also screened two short documentaries about the war in Vietnam and the activities of the Prison as well as Vietnam's humanitarian policies towards American prisoners detained here.

The relic management office organized a contest to learn about the history of the Prison for students, departments and agencies in Hanoi, and organized exchanges with historical witnesses to arouse the revolutionary spirit of the people in general. In general, the exchanges and learning sessions were highly effective, attracting the attention of the masses.
The work of restoring relics focuses on maximally protecting the remaining original elements and repairing degraded items.
As a revolutionary relic located in the heart of the capital, with a history of 115 years, Hoa Lo Prison is a place of interest and learning for many tourists. Currently, this relic attracts over 100,000 visitors, of which 70% are foreign visitors. Since the beginning of the year, Hoa Lo Prison has attracted over 60,400 visitors. However, the relic management board wishes to attract more Vietnamese visitors.
Therefore, the Management Board has implemented many attractive measures such as ticket policies or through the city's authorities, notifying the education sector to bring students to the Prison relic site for extracurricular activities or notifying departments, branches, and organizations to bring cadres and employees to learn about the relic site.
