Quang Liem - Truong Son made China regret again in the blitz chess final
Both players won the men's blitz chess team final, winning the 13th gold medal for Vietnam at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Even though there was a time when he had less than a minute to think, while his opponent had double the time, Le Quang Liem (Elo blitz chess 2,762) still excellently defeated Wang Yue (2,683) with the advantage of holding white.

This is the third gold medal for the Ho Chi Minh City player, as well as the chess team. With this, Quang Liem became the most successful athlete of Vietnam at the Games, surpassing “Little Mermaid” Nguyen Thi Anh Vien in swimming (two golds, one silver).
Because Quang Liem won the first game, the result of the second game between Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (2,654) and Yu Yangyi (2,680) did not mean much. But the player from Kien Giang still surprisingly won, despite holding the black pieces, helping Vietnam convincingly defeat the world chess powerhouse 2-0.
In the semi-finals, Truong Son also forced Ganguly Surya Shekhar (India) to surrender, helping Vietnam overcome the country of chess king Viswanathan Anand 1.5-0.5.
