On December 17, Coach Park Hang-seo and his team will travel to Laos to play their opening match at the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022. In the afternoon practice session on December 11, the players also began to get used to the official match ball of the tournament. On December 14, the team will have a "rehearsal" with a friendly match against the Philippines team, taking place at Hang Day Stadium.

In an interview before the training session, defender Doan Van Hau said that this is a match of important professional significance for the Vietnam National Team.“All the players have to prove themselves and the final tactical training needs to be smoother. We enter the tournament, embark on a new journey with the hope of getting the best results. To win the championship, we have to win all the opponents,”Van Hau said.

When asked about his preferred position in the Vietnam national team, Van Hau said:“The issue here is not whether we like it or not. This is the coaching staff's arrangement. As professional players, we have to adapt to any position. Personally, I am always ready to play in any position and always try to do my best.”

According to the plan, the Vietnam National Team will continue to practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. On December 13, the team will have an official practice session at Hang Day Stadium to prepare for the friendly match with the Philippines National Team. The away team will arrive in Hanoi in the early morning of December 13 and will also have a practice session at Hang Day Stadium in the afternoon of the same day. In addition to bringing the strongest squad to Vietnam to "rehearse" for the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, the Philippine National Team also attracts attention when being led by new head coach Josep Ferré Ybarz - Former Director of FC Barcelona Escola Academy and has led the teams Kitchee SC (Hong Kong), Buriram United, Ratchaburi FC, Bangkok Glass FC (Thailand), Nike (Japan) and FC Bayamón (Puerto Rico).
