Que Phong provides rice to relieve hunger for people in remote areas
(Baonghean) - On August 31, in the mountainous commune of Nam Nhoong (Que Phong district, Nghe An), the Front Committee of Nam Nhoong commune organized the distribution of rice to relieve hunger for local policy beneficiaries.
The amount of rice provided was 8,950 kg for 579 subjects including the elderly living alone, people outside of working age and children, each subject was provided with 15 kg of rice under the government's support program for people in flood-affected areas after storm No. 2 in June 2011. It is known that Nam Nhoong is a remote highland locality of Que Phong district, with 92.38% of poor households out of a total of 486 households, 2,228 people of the two ethnic groups Thai and Kho Mu, of which 45% of households are Kho Mu. This is a locality that suffered a lot of damage from the recent storm No. 2.
