Que Phong expands the area of Japonica rice variety
(Baonghean) -Japonica rice variety (Japan) has round grains, is cold-resistant, has a short growth period, has low average plant height, and is highly resistant to pests and diseases... suitable for high, cold areas.
In 2011, Que Phong district applied this rice variety to cultivate on an area of 1.5 hectares in Tri Le commune. The results showed that the yield and quality were higher than other rice varieties (reaching 60 - 65 quintals/ha). This spring crop, the district continued to cultivate this rice variety on an area of 40 hectares in Muong Noc and Tri Le communes and 1 hectare in Que Son commune, aiming to create varieties and gradually expand the cultivation area in the following crops.
