(Baonghean)Following the official closure of the main diversion tunnel for water impoundment, the water level at the Hua Na Hydropower Dam has now reached 226 meters, with electricity generation expected in the fourth quarter of 2012. All 14 villages in the reservoir area, comprising 1,361 households, have been relocated to safe resettlement sites and are gradually stabilizing in terms of infrastructure and living conditions.

In early August, due to continuous rain in Que Phong, transportation was difficult, especially on the roads leading to resettlement villages such as Xop Co, Nam Nien, Huoi Siu - Huoi Lan, which are resettlement sites for Na Cang village (Thong Thu) and Huoi Muong village (Dong Van). District leaders continuously organized inspections, visits, and listened to the concerns and aspirations of the people in these resettlement areas.

During a conversation, Mr. Vi Van Quoc, Secretary of the Party branch of Huoi Siu - Huoi Lan village, shared: “The living conditions of the people are relatively stable, with sufficient electricity for daily life, and most houses are sturdy and convenient. The biggest concerns are the delayed provision of subsidized rice, insufficient water tanks for households, some house foundations being eroded by heavy rain, and most worryingly, as the new school year approaches, schools in some resettlement areas are not yet completed, and students may have to study under stilt houses in the village...”

Faced with these difficulties, the district is focusing on directing the Flood and Storm Prevention and Control Steering Committees of Dong Van, Thong Thu, and Tien Phong communes to regularly monitor weather, meteorology, and hydrology, and to develop plans to prevent flash floods, landslides, etc., ensuring the safety of households in resettlement areas; quickly providing rice, establishing plans for dividing and allocating forest land and production land, and supporting households with seeds and livestock to stabilize their livelihoods. District leaders, along with various departments, agencies, and organizations, have visited villages to encourage officials and villagers to overcome immediate difficulties, fostering a spirit of solidarity to overcome challenges and gradually stabilize their lives. They have also urged contractors to expedite the completion of school facilities and community cultural centers to ensure 100% of children attend school.
