Lao and Vietnamese National Assembly share economic management experience

The National Assembly of the two countries held a workshop to exchange experiences on solutions to implement economic policies.

On July 27, in the capital Vientiane, Lao PDR, the Lao National Assembly, the Vietnamese National Assembly, in coordination with the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos (AVIL) and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), held a workshop to exchange experiences on solutions to implement macroeconomic, financial, monetary and banking policies.

Attending the Workshop on the Lao side were Comrade Pany, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly, along with all National Assembly delegates, representatives of leaders of several ministries, specialized agencies, and many leading economic experts and researchers of the Lao PDR; on the National Assembly and Government of Vietnam, there was Comrade Uong Chu Luu, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, along with representatives of leaders of several specialized agencies and leading financial and economic experts of Vietnam.

The workshop is an opportunity for the two countries' National Assemblies to frankly exchange Vietnam's practical experiences in financial management, public investment, public debt as well as in the development of the banking network, restructuring of credit institutions and experience in handling bad debt.

Besides, this is also an opportunity for leaders of the Lao National Assembly, Government and State to have a more comprehensive and realistic view in managing the country's economy, through learning from the experiences of brother countries with many similarities in economics and politics, contributing to economic development and stabilizing social life.

On this occasion, BIDV Bank and a number of Vietnamese enterprises investing in Laos presented the Lao Dengue Fever Prevention Fund with 100,000 USD and 15,000 sets of blankets and mosquito nets, with a total value of nearly 7 billion VND, to support Lao people in preventing dengue fever./.
