With nearly 500 votes in favor and 27 votes against, the French National Assembly on July 12 approved the country's continued military intervention campaign in Libya.

Immediately after the vote of the House of Representatives, with a ratio of 311 votes in favor and 24 votes against, the French Senate also approved the above measure.

The vote came as Libyan and French officials on July 12 raised the possibility of talks on leader Muammar Gaddafi relinquishing power and ending the conflict in Libya after months of stalemate.

Responding to the issue, a Libyan government spokesman said Tripoli "regretted" the vote result, saying that Libya hoped French lawmakers could examine the reality of the situation without listening to "lies" from the French government and media.
