The National Assembly passed two laws on Citizen Identification and Civil Status.

On the afternoon of November 20, with 381 delegates present voting in favor (accounting for 76.66% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed the Law on Citizen Identification.

Also on the afternoon of November 20, the National Assembly voted and passed the Law on Civil Status with 76.65% of delegates in favor.

This is also a bill that attracts the attention of many people with the expectation of creating a reform in state management of population; reducing inconvenience, saving time for people in the direction of building a modern, streamlined management model.

The approved Law Project will create a legal basis for establishing personal identification numbers for each citizen, ensuring scientificity, feasibility, based on management requirements and practicality.

Closely related to the Citizen Identification Law project, the National Assembly's approval of the Civil Status Law project aims to ensure the feasibility of the close relationship between civil status, household registration and citizen identification.

If household registration is important personal events of citizens that are recorded and protected by the State, then household registration and citizen identification are mainly to serve social management work.

The draft Law on Civil Status was approved on the basis of reviewing other legal documents (Civil Code, Nationality Law, Citizen Identification Law project, etc.) to ensure the consistency of the legal system; avoid overlap and duplication in population management between ministries and branches, causing waste for the State and inconvenience for the people.
