According to RIA Novosti on March 4, in a speech addressed to US President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian Parliament welcomed his peace initiatives to resolve the conflict; at the same time expressed confidence that President Trump will have a decisive influence on ending the fighting.

“The Ukrainian people believe that the personal role of President Donald Trump and his peacekeeping efforts will have a decisive impact on the rapid cessation of hostilities and the achievement of peace for Ukraine, Europe and the whole world. The Ukrainian Parliament welcomes the initiative of President Donald Trump to launch a negotiation process aimed at ensuring peace,” the Ukrainian Parliament said in a message to President Trump.

The message also stated that Ukraine's security and development are guaranteed through support from the United States. In addition, the Ukrainian Parliament stressed the need to further develop the strategic partnership with the United States, especially in the field of searching for important minerals.

Last week, on February 28, in the Oval Office of the White House, President Donald Trump harshly criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky. The US leader demanded that Mr. Zelensky agree to a ceasefire and stop criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin. US Vice President JD Vance called Mr. Zelensky an “ungrateful agitator” to the US, as the Ukrainian leader began to justify his actions, blaming Russia and even threatening the US that they would bear the consequences of the conflict, despite the fact that the two countries are separated by an ocean. The Kiev delegation was immediately asked to leave the White House and the mineral agreement was not signed.

President Donald Trump later on March 3 dismissed the idea that the mineral deal with Ukraine was “dead”, following Mr Zelensky’s failed visit to Washington.

“No, I don’t think so,” Mr Trump replied at the White House when asked if the deal with Ukraine was “dead” after the row with the Ukrainian leader.
