Vietnam and Indonesia National Assembly promote cooperation
On the morning of September 5, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks with Mr. Marzuki Alie, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and President of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA) Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, who arrived in Hanoi to begin a working visit to Vietnam.
At the talks, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Marzuki Alie informed about the situation of the two countries and the two parliaments; agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and delegations of the two countries' parliamentary committees to actively contribute to promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two legislative bodies of Vietnam and Indonesia as well as the traditional relationship between the two peoples.

The two sides agreed to promote the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies; coordinate activities at international and regional inter-parliamentary forums, especially within the framework of AIPA and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in the spirit of mutual support and harmonious coordination on regional and global issues.
Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives and President of AIPA Marzuki Alie affirmed that AIPA acknowledges and highly appreciates Vietnam's role in the AIPA Council. As a country with a strongly developing economy and a constantly growing position in the region and internationally, AIPA President Marzuki Alie hopes that Vietnam will actively contribute to the success of the upcoming 33rd AIPA General Assembly.
Expressing his delight at the strong development in the relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia in all areas of legislation, administration and people-to-people exchange, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives believes that the relationship between the two countries will develop strongly in the coming time in the fields of tourism, culture, politics, economics, diplomacy and especially cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies.
Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie hopes that the two countries' parliaments will continue to support and promote the signing of cooperation agreements, creating favorable conditions to continuously enhance economic cooperation activities between the two sides, contributing to fostering friendship and relations between the two countries and peoples.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highly appreciated the personal role of Mr. Marzuki Alie in realizing AIPA's goals during his term as chairman 2011-2012; at the same time, highly appreciated Indonesia's role in recent ASEAN activities.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that his visit to discuss the contents of the 33rd AIPA General Assembly right before the Conference is a vivid manifestation of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation towards a strategic partnership between the two countries after nearly six decades of establishing diplomatic relations.
Appreciating Indonesia's careful preparation for activities within the framework of AIPA, especially the fact that for the first time the AIPA Executive Committee Meeting was held three months before the General Assembly, the National Assembly Chairman said that this event demonstrated an important shift towards substance in AIPA activities.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highly appreciated Indonesia's role in the past year as AIPA Chair, with many positive activities to promote the role and contributions of member parliaments towards building the ASEAN Community in 2015, and expressed his belief that the 33rd AIPA General Assembly will be a great success.
Pleased to see the increasingly strengthened relations between the two parliaments, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung congratulated Indonesia on its socio-economic and foreign affairs achievements in the context of many global economic difficulties. The National Assembly Chairman was pleased with the positive results of cooperation activities between the two countries in recent times; suggested that the two sides discuss to propose effective mechanisms to promote two-way trade and investment.
At noon on the same day, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung hosted a reception to welcome Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, AIPA President Marzuki Alie and the delegation./.
