U50 lady falls into the trap of her adulterous lover, losing 3.5 billion
A woman in her 50s met a Western man and promised marriage. Her lover used the trick of sending gifts and she lost 3.5 billion VND when she was tricked into paying customs fees.
Ho Chi Minh City police have just issued a decision to prosecute a case of “fraudulent appropriation of property” involving foreigners. The victim is Ms. NTTT (born in 1967, residing in Ho Chi Minh City).
According to Ms. T's report, several months ago, through the social network Facebook, she met a man named Henry Mario, a British citizen. After a period of exchanging information, Henry Mario proposed to her and said he would come to Vietnam to build a family and live permanently with Ms. T. The U50 lady believed that was true.

Then Henry Mario announced that he was sending Mrs. T. a gift box containing valuable jewelry, electronics... to show his sincerity. The lover asked for Mrs. T's personal information to send the gift and of course Mrs. T provided it clearly.
A few days later, someone called claiming to be a customs officer to inform her that a man named Henry Mario had sent a gift to Ms. T. This person said that the gift box contained a large amount of foreign currency, so Ms. T had to pay a 'customs fee' to receive it.
Listening to the enticement, Ms. T transferred money 11 times to 2 bank accounts of a person named Hua Can Yen. After waiting for a long time without seeing the gifts arrive, and her lover also...disappeared, Ms. T realized she had been scammed so she reported it to the police.
Ms. T declared that there were 11 transfers, the amount was up to 3.5 billion VND and she provided the transfer information to the police to serve the investigation process.
