(Baonghean) -In recent years, the situation of alluvial gold mining by large-capacity dredgers on Hieu River has been taking place massively, causing environmental pollution, directly affecting the lives of thousands of households along both sides of Hieu River in Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan districts and Thai Hoa town.

At the end of September 2011, Working Group No. 2 of the Provincial Environmental Police Department coordinated with local authorities to inspect and handle illegal gold mining activities on Hieu River in the above districts; confiscated 8 dredgers, imposed fines and paid over 550 million VND to the state treasury.

But up to this point (November 2011), on the Hieu River flowing through Chau Thang Commune, Quy Chau District, illegal gold mining by a dredger operating along the river bank with great intensity continues. Local people said: I don't know if this dredger was discovered during the raid at the end of September 2011, but until now it is still operating almost 24/24?
