(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 30, the People's Court of Quy Chau district opened a mobile court in Chau Thuan commune, sentencing three defendants: Tran Duc Tan, born in 1972 (permanent resident of Co Nong village, Muong Noc commune, Que Phong district) and Tran Van Doan, born in 1969 (permanent resident of hamlet 7, Nghia Tien commune, Thai Hoa town).

According to the indictment, at 9:15 a.m. on April 23, 2014, at km 103+300 of National Highway 48 in Minh Tien village, Chau Tien commune, the working group of Quy Chau district police administratively checked two men riding a motorbike in the direction of Que Phong - Quy Hop. When discovered, the motorcyclist threw a package of white powder onto the road. After investigation and verification, the person who threw the package of white powder was Tran Van Doan (permanent resident of hamlet 7, Nghin Tien commune, Thai Hoa town).

At the trial, Doan confessed that it was heroin that Doan bought from the person sitting behind the motorbike, Tran Duc Tan (born in 1972 in Co Nong village, Muong Noc commune (Que Phong) for 3,700,000 VND. On the morning of April 23, Quy Chau district police arrested and urgently searched Tran Duc Tan and continued to collect a package of white powder in his pants pocket. At the investigation agency, Tan confessed that it was heroin bought in Que Phong district for 1,300,000 VND from an unknown person. On the morning of April 23, Tan took a small amount for his own use, hid the rest in the family fence and sold a package of 5.885g to Doan.

It is known that in 2012, Tan himself was sentenced by the Que Phong district court to 3 years in prison for "illegally possessing narcotics". In 2004, Tran Van Doan was sentenced by the Nghe An provincial people's court to 7 years in prison for "illegally buying and selling narcotics".

Applying point h, clause 2, article 194, point p, clause 1, article 146 of the Penal Code, the court sentenced Tran Duc Tan to 8 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics". Applying points h and p, clause 2, article 194 of the Penal Code, the court sentenced Tran Van Doan to 9 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics", the term is calculated from the date of arrest, April 23, 2014.

Case 2.The court sentenced Vi Thi Lan (born in 1970), residing in Ta Soi village, Chau Hanh commune, to 5 years in prison for “prostitution”. As the owner of a coffee shop, but wanting to make high profits, Vi Thi Lan organized and agreed with prostitutes Luong Thi Hue, Ha Thi Huong and Luong Thi Lam (in Que Phong district) that each time a customer bought sex, Lan would collect 200,000 VND and pay the prostitute 100,000 VND.

At 10 p.m. on March 10, 2014, when Huong, Hue, and Lam were selling sex to customers in rooms 1, 2, and 4, they were caught red-handed by the working group of Quy Chau District Police. In 2008, Vi Thi Lan was sentenced by the Quy Chau District People's Court to 24 months in prison (but with a suspended sentence) for "prostitution".

Applying point a, d, clause 2, article 76 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Court sentenced Vi Thi Lan to 5 years in prison for the crime of "Prostitution", the time to serve the prison sentence is from the date of arrest March 10, 2014.
