Quy Hop: The "golden rain" saved many crop areas

Mr. Vi Thanh Tuong - Vice Chairman of Quy Hop District People's Committee, said: This is considered a "golden rain" because Quy Hop is currently in a drought period, rice, sugarcane and many other crops are in dire need of irrigation.

Ms. Vi Thi Huong in Con village, Chau Quang commune, excitedly said: My family grew 3 sao of rice fields, but all 3 sao were cracked, thanks to the rain last night, the rice fields have revived.

Quy Hop has over 1,000 hectares of spring rice, over 50% of which is drought-affected. On April 23, the district mobilized over 10 field oil pumps to pump in key communes such as Chau Loc, Yen Hop... however, due to heavy rain, pumping was not required. The district also has over 7,000 hectares of sugarcane, of which thousands of hectares of sugarcane withered and newly planted are drought-affected, some areas have wilted tops, thanks to this "golden rain", most of the sugarcane area has the ability to revive.

Mr. Vi Thanh Tuong added: It has been more than 3 months since Quy Hop had rain. The rain lasted more than 4 hours and saved many areas of rice, sugarcane, and other crops.
