(Baonghean.vn) -In Quy Hop district, after the recent heavy rain, flooding damaged many spillways and culverts, and eroded many roads. The district People's Committee is actively directing localities to focus on overcoming the situation.

Mr. Nguyen Tinh Phu - Chairman of Chau Ly Commune People's Committee said: Flood water has damaged many inter-village and inter-hamlet roads; caused landslides, especially in Vuc, Bung, and Choong villages, over 7 km long; floods swept away spillways in Den, Xao, and Con villages... To repair the damaged traffic system and structures, since October 10, Chau Ly Commune People's Committee has mobilized over 2,000 people to use hoes and shovels to focus on maintaining the roads, and it is expected to take 20 days to repair the roads. Chau Ly Commune People's Committee has allocated over 300 million VND from the budget to repair the damaged spillways, and has now completed the stone embankment of Den village's spillway.

In Yen Hop commune, the inter-village road system was also mostly eroded, the most serious being the route connecting Xat, Boc and Tho villages, over 7km long, with many sections of the road being blocked by landslides. Some sections of the Na Phe - Dong Mong route were sunk. In particular, Dong Mong village bridge, Bo village bridge and Khang village spillway were completely washed away by the flood.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Giap - Chairman of Yen Hop Commune People's Committee said: Since October 9, the Commune People's Committee has mobilized over 500 workers to repair the landslide routes and sections with hundreds of cubic meters of earth and rock. The Commune has allocated 105 million VND from the budget to buy additional stones to reinforce the weak landslide sections; Mobilized more than 70 large and small truck owners to voluntarily transport earth and rock to maintain the route. For the 3 damaged bridges and spillways, the Commune has mobilized people in 3 villages to contribute from 200,000 VND - 250,000 VND/household to buy stones and cement to maintain and repair the works.

Mr. Giap added that the commune continues to mobilize forces to actively maintain and repair the roads, and it is expected that by October 20, the roads will be completed to facilitate people's travel and transportation of raw sugarcane on 361 hectares.

Mr. Vi Thanh Tuong - Vice Chairman of Quy Hop District People's Committee added: This year's prolonged rainy and stormy season has seriously affected most of the roads from the district center to inter-village and inter-commune roads. Many roads have been eroded, and floodwaters have eaten deep into the roadbed. Some roads with particularly serious landslides include: Dong Hop, Tho Hop, Chau Thai, Ha Son... In particular, nearly 40 bridges, spillways and large and small culverts have been washed away and damaged.

Faced with the above situation, since October 9, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district has directed localities to simultaneously mobilize to repair traffic infrastructure after floods. The number of people participating in road repair is over 5,000, up to now, many roads have been repaired: the road due to landslides in Chau Thanh commune has been cleared; Dong Hop commune has repaired inter-village roads and mobilized people to build over 300 sacks of soil to embank Cay Dua dam; Nghia Xuan commune has maintained over 3 km of landslide roads... For important roads to mineral exploitation areas such as Chau Quang, Chau Cuong, Chau Hong, Chau Tien... traffic management units have mobilized machinery and workers to focus on repairing and maintaining. In addition, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district is actively directing people in the whole district to repair the roads, it is estimated that it will be completed in about 15 days. For weak points, the District People's Committee will support communes with mechanical means for leveling such as trucks and excavators...
