Quy Hop: Many clean water projects are degraded

(Baonghean) -Many rural clean water projects under the National Target Program and other programs and projects in some localities in Quy Hop district are operating ineffectively, even being "shelved", while people have to use polluted water.

From 2005 to now, the entire district of Quy Hop has received tens of billions of VND from the state to build clean water works to serve people in rural and mountainous areas. Investment capital for these works is mobilized from many sources, mainly from the capital of the National Target Program on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation, Sedentarization, Programs 135 and 134 of the Government for communes with special difficulties. Quy Hop currently has 13/20 rural clean water works in a state of severe damage, out of operation, the rest are operating but also unstable. The works are mainly damaged pipelines, dams, and tanks concentrated in the communes of Van Loi, Bac Son, Yen Hop, Chau Thai, Lien Hop, Chau Cuong, Chau Hong, Chau Tien, Chau Thanh....

The main reason is due to the lack of synchronous investment and ineffective management, so the tank and pipeline systems are damaged. In addition, the locality is not allowed to collect water supply fees from households, leading to a lack of annual funding for investment and timely repair when damaged, leading to rapid deterioration of the works. Another part is due to the poor awareness and responsibility of the people... Prioritizing investment in the construction of works to supply domestic water to people in rural and mountainous areas is the concern of our Party and State. Therefore, it is necessary to immediately establish an exploitation management board for completed works. The management board is responsible for managing, protecting, and regularly repairing, to promote the effectiveness of the works to ensure serving the people's domestic water and production.
