(Baonghean) -The new rural development program in Quy Hop has become a widespread movement spreading to every citizen with many good models and practices. This is the starting point to practically contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

In 2013, with capital sources for new rural construction and integration of other capital sources, Quy Hop initially had many models that were evaluated as effective, if applied widely, it would help many people benefit. That is the model of raising ducks in Chau Cuong commune. We visited Mr. Vi Anh Xuan's family in Tham village when he was feeding his ducks. Mr. Xuan excitedly said: "With the support program for Quy Chau duck breeds and mixed industrial feed, my family raised over 120 ducks. During the raising process, technical staff guided on care, feeding, and disease prevention, so the survival rate reached 100%. According to Mr. Xuan, the Quy Chau duck breed is also easy to adapt to the natural conditions in Chau Cuong, an area with many streams, ponds and lakes. The barns mainly use bamboo, so investment costs are reduced. After 3 months of raising, the ducklings have now reached a weight of 2-2.2 kg/duck, selling for an average price of 180,000-200,000 VND/duck, earning over 20 million VND. Seeing the effectiveness of the Quy duck breed, Mr. Xuan plans to sell only about 40%, the rest he will raise to lay eggs to get breeds to start raising on a larger scale. Mr. Xuan continued: After about 5 more months of raising, the ducks will lay eggs, my family plans to raise 300-400 ducks, if well cared for, each year will bring in an income of 200-250 million VND. This is a specialty breed, with delicious meat, so it is very popular and easy to sell.

Next door is Mr. Ngan Van Thai's household raising 83 ducks. Mr. Thai shared: "Initially, the implementation encountered many difficulties such as some ducks died due to disease. Being recommended to vaccinate against cholera and septicemia and taking care of them properly, the ducks grew well. In addition to industrial mixed feed, my family often takes advantage of natural food sources such as bananas and vegetables to feed the ducks. After just over 3 months, the ducks have generated an income of nearly 200,000 VND/duck, after deducting expenses, the profit is 150,000 VND/duck. Thus, if the model is expanded to increase the scale of farming, it will bring high income."

Mr. Ngan Thanh Quang - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Chau Cuong commune said: The capital from the new rural program for this model is not much, only over 30 million VND, supporting 6 households in Tham village and Nhang village, each household raises 83 ducks. Of which, the capital supports 100% of the cost of breeding and the cost of food and veterinary medicine. After more than 3 months of implementation, it can be affirmed that the models are very effective: The survival rate is over 95%, the average weight is nearly 2 kg/duck. It can be said that the Quy duck raising model has a low investment cost, suitable for the conditions of Chau Cuong. The effectiveness of raising Quy ducks is clear, so now many households will expand the scale of production, this is also an effective way to reduce poverty.

In addition, the model of growing corn on 2-rice land using new rural capital in Chau Quang commune has high economic efficiency. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luyen - Chairman of Chau Quang Commune People's Committee said: For a long time, Chau Quang people have not focused on investing in growing corn on 2-rice land, many areas are still left fallow. Supported with 140 million VND from the new rural program capital to build a model of growing corn on 2-rice land on an area of 21 hectares of Dong Huong and Dong Tam villages in Chau Quang commune, of which over 18 hectares are mainly of C919 LVN885, LVN99 corn varieties..., the rest is glutinous corn area. This is considered a "catalyst" for farmers to focus on intensive corn cultivation on 2-rice land to increase economic value per unit area.

In the corn field being harvested, Ms. Phan Thi Sum in Dong Huong village could not hide her joy: Previously, the 4 sao of rice fields were left fallow after 2 rice crops, but now the State has supported money for seeds, fertilizers, and guided the process of cultivating corn on 2-rice land, which has brought practical results, the corn yield reached 3.3 quintals/sao, which also achieved an average income of 1.3-1.5 million VND/sao/crop. According to Mr. Sam Ba Nam, growing corn in large-scale fields is convenient in bringing in machinery to work the land and sowing at the same time, with the same investment and care regime, so the corn grows well. His family grows 5 sao of corn on the same plot, mainly the C919 variety, with a planting density of 1,600-1,700 plants/sao. Thanks to the irrigation system providing water and proper care, the corn has achieved outstanding productivity, estimated at about 3.5 quintals/sao. 5 sao of corn is enough to meet the food needs of over 30 pigs and leaves to feed his family's 3 cows. Currently, Chau Quang commune has identified corn as the main crop. The successful model of the commune will develop a scale of over 200 hectares of corn on 2-rice land to create a source of local food for livestock development.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thai - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Quy Hop district added: In 2013, Quy Hop has implemented the construction of over 30 integrated production models associated with the new rural program. The capital from the new rural program is 860 million VND, of which the District People's Committee has allocated over 1 billion VND from the budget to support the construction of models, with priority given to remote areas. Building crop and livestock models suitable to the conditions of each locality. Such as the model of growing super sweet sugarcane variety QD 93 in Ha Son commune with 7 hectares, Chau Dinh with 6 hectares, Nghia Xuan with 7 hectares... with high efficiency, sugarcane with high sugar content, outstanding productivity of over 90 tons/ha. The model of raising free-range chickens in Yen Hop, Minh Hop, Chau Ly, the model of raising goats in Chau Tien, Chau Ly...

In 2014, Quy Hop continued to integrate project programs to invest in building production and livestock models associated with new rural construction such as building corn growing models on 2-rice land, soybean growing, black pig raising, etc. Continuing to propagate and mobilize people to replicate effective models to gradually improve their lives and increase their income.
