New Government decision on support level for prevention and control of African swine fever
The Government has just issued a new Decision, No. 2254/QD-TTg, dated December 30, 2020, on support levels for pig farmers if they have to destroy their pigs to prevent and control African swine fever.
According to Decision No.2254/QD-TTgof the Prime Minister on mechanisms, policies, support objects, and financial support levels in the prevention and control of African swine fever in 2020, the State supports livestock breeders, livestock households, farm owners, cooperatives, production cooperatives, agencies and units of the armed forces doing business in the livestock sector (livestock facilities) whose pigs are forced to be destroyed due to African swine fever with the following specific levels:
1- For piglets and pork of all kinds: Support 30,000 VND/kg of live pig;
2- For sows and boars being exploited: Support 35,000 VND/kg of live pigs.
Decision 2254 of the Government applies to the prevention and control of African swine fever.from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. On that basis, the National Steering Committee for African Swine Fever Prevention and Control will coordinate with localities to compile statistics, report to the Government and propose support levels.

Support small and medium-sized livestock enterprises according to the criteria prescribed in the Law on Support for Small and Medium Enterprises No. 04/2017/QH14 dated June 12, 2017 (excluding small and medium-sized enterprises that are subsidiaries or companies with controlling equity capital of large enterprises) whose pigs must be destroyed due to disease.African swine feverwith specific support levels as follows:
a- For piglets and pork of all kinds: Support 10,000 VND/kg of live pig;
b- For sows and boars in exploitation: Support 12,000 VND/kg of live pigs.
The maximum support level for businesses is not more than 30% of the loss caused by the epidemic after using reserve funds and insurance compensation (if any).
The State supports small and medium-sized enterprises according to the criteria prescribed in the Law on Support for Small and Medium Enterprises No. 04/2017/QH14 dated June 12, 2017 (excluding small and medium-sized enterprises that are subsidiaries or companies with controlling equity capital of large enterprises) and households raising great-grandparent and grandparent pigs at a rate of VND 500,000/pig until December 31, 2020 to improve biosafety measures, disinfect and destroy pathogens to ensure the maintenance of breeding pigs for herd restoration when the epidemic is controlled.
