Quynh Hau (Quynh Luu): Receiving the title of Thuong Hung Carpentry Village

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 13, Quynh Hau commune held a ceremony to receive the title of Thuong Hung Carpentry Village awarded by the Provincial People's Committee.

Thuong Hung village has 405 households and nearly 2,200 people, including 3 hamlets 7, 8 and 9. People's lives mainly depend on agricultural production, services develop slowly, so people's lives still face many difficulties. Therefore, in 2011, Quynh Hau commune had a specialized resolution and project to develop small-scale industries and build craft villages in the period 2010 - 2015 and the following years. The Party cell and people of Thuong Hung village have realized that developing craft villages is the goal to develop the economy, solve jobs for idle and surplus labor, at the same time reduce social evils, increase income for people. Small-scale handicraft production in Thuong Hung was formed and developed before the 1990s.

Thanks to the hard-working, intelligent labor force, convenient transportation system, products that are suitable to the tastes of consumers and have prestige in the market, so far, after more than 24 years of development, carpentry has become the main occupation and accounts for the majority of the local labor force. The craft village has 180 households specializing in the production of civil carpentry. The total production value of the village by occupation in 2012 and 2013 reached 70 billion VND or more, the total income from the profession was over 13 billion VND, the average income from the profession reached nearly 50 million VND, thereby helping people to escape poverty sustainably.
