Previously, around July 2, clam farming households in Son Hai, Quynh Tho, and Quynh Thuan communes suddenly discovered that their clams had suddenly died en masse, floating white all over the shore. Faced with this phenomenon, people reported it to the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for solutions.

After receiving the information, representatives of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with the Department of Animal Health and the provincial Veterinary Department, came to inspect and take samples of dead clams for testing.

According to damage statistics, about 104 hectares of clams were killed, concentrated in clam farming areas such as Quynh Tho, Son Hai, and Quynh Thuan. Among them, the clam farming households that suffered the most damage were Mr. Thai Ba Khang's family (damaged clam seeds), Mr. Dong Nhu Nguyen (more than 2 hectares of clams ready to be harvested, estimated damage of 600 million VND), and many other households.

After the inspection, the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development directed people to quickly overcome the consequences by collecting clam shells and treating the farming grounds. The remaining clam area needs to be checked and monitored regularly to grasp the situation.

The cause of the mass clam deaths is currently being investigated by authorities.
