Quynh Luu: 3000 hectares affected by drought, no water for summer-autumn crop production

The delegation inspected the drought situation in some communes such as Quynh Hong, Quynh Yen, Quynh Van and Quynh Thanh. The actual inspection showed that the entire rice-growing area of ​​the communes currently has no water for production, the land is dry and cracked. The storage capacity of the reservoirs and irrigation dams is much lower than the same period in many years. According to statistics, the entire Quynh Luu district currently has 7,000 hectares of rice-growing land, as of June 2, about 3,000 hectares of rice-growing land are suffering from drought, with no water for summer-autumn crop production. Some areas of newly planted rice seedlings also do not have water for the seedlings to grow, the risk of the seedlings drying out and burning is very high. In addition to some communes that the delegation inspected, some localities at the end of the canal and dam system such as Quynh Bang, Quynh Hoa, An Hoa are also seriously lacking water for production. To combat drought, people use water pumps from rivers and lakes to irrigate their fields, and even use sprinklers to both irrigate and plant crops.

After the inspection, comrade Le Duc Cuong - Secretary of the District Party Committee directed the localities suffering from drought to take timely remedial measures, taking advantage of water sources in pond systems to serve production. Directed the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise to have a plan to regulate irrigation water sources reasonably, clear sewers, dredge irrigation canal systems. Thereby, ensuring irrigation water sources for people to produce the summer-autumn crop of 2015.
