Quynh Luu: Closing ceremony of swimming class to prevent drowning for children

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 22, at the swimming pool of Quynh Doi commune (Quynh Luu), the district's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the district's Sports Center to organize the closing ceremony of a swimming class to prevent drowning for children.

Quynh Luu district has a complex natural terrain with many streams, river mouths, creeks, ponds, lakes and 9 coastal communes. Therefore, the number of children drowning every year in the area is quite large. In this situation, to prevent drowning for children, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the district Sports Center to open swimming classes for children.

The swimming class took place for 7 days from July 16 to July 22, with the participation of 30 children from 3 communes of Quynh Doi, Quynh Yen, Quynh Thanh and more than 20 children of the same age in the surrounding area who were sent by their parents to the training course. During the course, the children were enthusiastically instructed by teachers who are officers of the District Sports Center on the following contents: Some things to avoid when swimming; some swimming techniques; practicing floating; wall-climbing; crawl swimming techniques; coordinating leg, arm, and breathing techniques in crawl swimming; drowning rescue methods... Through the swimming class, the children were equipped with swimming techniques, able to escape dangerous situations on their own when they occur.

At the end of the course, 100% of the children knew how to swim and the Organizing Committee awarded certificates to them, including 4 excellent students; 12 good students and the rest average.
