Quynh Luu: Proactively take measures to prevent storm number 3

(Baonghean.vn) - In the face of storm No. 3, Quynh Luu district is urgently calling on vessels to return to safe storm shelters and, at the same time, proactively implementing storm prevention plans.

Although the boat had only been out at sea for 4 days, when the radio announced that storm No. 3 was about to hit our country, to ensure safety and avoid any unfortunate damage that might occur, from the afternoon of September 15, Mr. Thai Ba Tuan's boat in Hamlet 8, Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District urgently brought the boat back to Lach Thoi Wharf. At the same time, he and other crew members focused on securing and anchoring the boat safely to avoid collisions that could damage the boat.

To cope with the storm and minimize the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quynh Luu district requested communes and towns in the area to focus on plans to reinforce houses; the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue sub-committees in communes must be on duty 24/7; inspect dams and need to have safety plans at spillways, evacuate households near dams and reservoirs... at the same time, mobilize forces to be ready to respond when the storm makes landfall.

Mr. Tran Van Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District said: "Currently, all 212 boats of the commune have anchored. Of which, 15 boats are anchored in Ha Tinh, 40 boats are anchored in Lach Quen, the rest are at Lach Thoi wharf. We are actively encouraging all people to implement plans to reinforce their houses...".

Currently, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district has contacted 100% of the boats about storm No. 3. Urging the implementation of storm prevention plans; protecting construction works; protecting aquaculture areas. Checking and evaluating dykes, dams, and works under construction to have measures to ensure safety of people and property.

By noon on September 16, the entire district had called on 1,231 vessels to return to safe storm shelters. The remaining 10 vessels were on their way back to the anchorage.
