Quynh Luu: Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Defense and Security Traditional Day

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 27, 2015, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force's tradition day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2015).

At the ceremony, generations of officers and soldiers of the district's militia force reviewed the tradition of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam militia force over the past 80 years. In particular, it was emphasized that along with the process of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam militia force and Nghe An province, the Quynh Luu district militia force under the leadership and direction of the Party committees, authorities at all levels and the protection and nurturing of the people has continuously grown, contributing worthily to the tradition of fighting of the nation. Since the 1930s, communes in Quynh Luu district have organized Red Guard forces.

This force quickly participated in the struggle against French colonialism, rallies, demonstrations demanding freedom to scrape salt, demanding the right to live, the right to freedom... and won many important victories. After the August Revolution, the militia and guerrilla forces, the armed forces of Quynh Luu district were consolidated and fought bravely against the enemy's sweeps, making the enemy terrified. After 1954, the whole country entered a long-term resistance war against the invading American imperialists, the militia and guerrilla forces of Quynh Luu district fought side by side with the armed forces to shoot down many enemy planes and warships.

With the great achievements, in 1978, the cadres, people and armed forces of Quynh Luu district were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. Continuing to promote the qualities of the Vietnam People's Army, the militia and self-defense force of Quynh Luu district has now been built to be compact, modern and of high quality. Continuing to stand side by side with the district armed forces to fight against peaceful evolution, protect national security, build new rural areas, and be an important force contributing to protecting the Party, government and people./.
