Quynh Luu: Prolonged heavy rain causes flooding of young rice fields

(Baonghean.vn) -Heavy rain for 3 days from June 10 to 12 caused the entire newly planted rice field of farmers in Quynh Luu district to be deeply submerged in water.

According to observations, in the fields of farmers, all young rice seedlings in Quynh Luu district are now deeply submerged in water. In some places, the water level is 5 to 10 cm higher than the seedlings. According to the plan, this summer-autumn crop, the whole district of Quynh Luu will plant 7,600 hectares, of which 5,500 hectares is summer-autumn and 2,100 hectares is winter-spring crop. Up to now, farmers in the district have planted nearly 7,000 hectares, reaching 97% of the plan. In which, they are mainly concentrated in rural communes such as Quynh Hau, Quynh Hong, Quynh Ba, Quynh Hung, Quynh Ngoc...

In the face of prolonged heavy rain, the risk of flooding young rice seedlings will be very high. However, with the people's long-term experience in rice cultivation, after the rain stops, people quickly go to the fields to clear the drains and banks to drain the water to limit flooding of the seedlings.
