Quynh Luu: 250 kg bomb discovered under the river

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 11, a 250 kg bomb lying deep underwater was successfully brought ashore by the Military Command of Quynh Luu District (Nghe An).

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thanh Hai, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Quynh Luu District Military Command, said that after receiving information from the People's Committee of Quynh Luong Commune, a bomb was discovered deep underground on the Bac Hai River in Hamlet 6. Immediately after that, the district military command asked for instructions from the Nghe An Provincial Military Command to have a plan to destroy the bomb.

Immediately afterwards, nearly 100 officers including the district military command, militia, police, medical department... were present at the scene to bring the bomb ashore.

The bomb weighed 250 kg and was 1.7 m long.

After trying to get the bomb out of the water until 6 p.m. the same day, the bomb was brought safely to shore.

After the bomb was brought ashore, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thanh Hai identified it as a 500-pound bomb from the anti-American war. The bomb weighed 250kg, was 1.7m long, and had a diameter of 35cm. It is known that this bomb has great destructive power, with a radius of 500m.

After the bomb is successfully brought ashore, military officers will use professional measures to destroy the bomb, ensuring absolute safety.
