Quynh Luu: Training on safe migration for workers to Laos

(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing a joint program between the Vietnam Women's Union and the International Organization for Migration, from May 22 to 30, the Quynh Luu District Women's Union organized a training course on safe migration for workers to Laos in Quynh Lam and Quynh Van communes.

During 1 week, the Women's Union of Quynh Luu district organized 16 classes for 800 workers who were potential migrants to Laos, those who had worked in Laos, heads of village front work committees, women's unions, farmers' unions, and youth unions.

During the training sessions, community guides provided workers with the following main contents: Knowledge about safe migration, information about living and working conditions in Laos, as well as benefits and challenges when migrating to Laos. At the same time, they guided workers who intend to migrate to fully comply with the conditions and procedures prescribed to migrate legally to Laos, and how to seek support and help when facing risks in Laos. In addition, community guides also gave advice for Vietnamese workers to migrate safely to Laos./.
