Quynh Luu: Training on legal knowledge about sea and islands
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 1, at the An Hoa commune hall, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, the East Sea and Islands Steering Committee held a training conference to improve legal knowledge on protecting sea and island sovereignty and exploiting aquatic resources.
Attending the conference were comrade Bui Dinh Sam - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, representatives of the provincial police, Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station, border guards, the Department of Exploitation and Protection of Aquatic Resources, and representatives of the leaders of Quynh Luu district.

At the conference, more than 350 delegates, including chairmen of fishing associations and owners of vessels with a capacity of 90 CV or more from 9 coastal communes of Quynh Luu district, were introduced by comrade Bui Dinh Sam - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to the topic "Vietnam affirms sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and viewpoints and attitudes in resolving issues in the East Sea". In which, ship owners and fishermen were fully informed about some recent situations of our country's sea and islands, condemning China's actions in the East Sea, and some results of the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Vietnam People's Navy in recent times.

In addition, at this training session, boat owners and fishermen of Quynh Luu district were also trained by members of the Provincial East Sea and Islands Steering Committee on ensuring national safety at sea and the situation of Nghe An people illegally leaving the country, staying and working there, introduced and provided with the communication system of the Vietnam Coastal Information Station, the importance of communication equipment for fishermen at sea; documents regulating the prevention of the use of explosives, electric shocks, and toxic substances for illegal fishing, the management of fishing vessel registration, and policies to support fishing vessels going offshore to exploit aquatic resources.
Through the training session, we aim to provide full knowledge on the situation of maritime border security and developments of China's actions towards our country's sea and islands. From there, we will further enhance the responsibility of ship owners, captains and fishing boat crews in ensuring safety at sea, contributing together with the people of the whole country to protect the sacred territorial waters of the fatherland./.
