This is considered one of the traditional festivals of fishermen in coastal areas to pray for calm seas, national peace and prosperity, and a prosperous year. The fishing festival in Son Hai commune not only attracts local fishermen to participate respectfully and have fun, but also attracts many tourists and fishermen from neighboring communes to visit and express their spiritual beliefs.

Like previous years, this year, the Cau Ngu festival and the launching ceremony for fishermen to go out to sea to exploit aquatic products in Son Hai commune were held on 2 days, from March 2-3 (ie January 12-13, At Mui year 2015) on a large scale including 2 main parts: the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony includes the opening ceremony, the proclamation ceremony, the praying for fish ceremony, the great sacrifice ceremony, the thanksgiving ceremony at the procession points such as Trung communal house, Thoi temple, the Monument to the heroic martyrs, Yen Thai pagoda, and village point 8.

The festival includes cultural and artistic activities, sports and two palanquin processions. One group will take the waterway route with 5 large boats decorated splendidly to row the palanquin on the river, while the other group will take the road route to carry the palanquin from Dinh Trung to Thoi Temple. After that, the two groups will gather to perform the ceremony at Yen Thai Pagoda and carry it back to Dinh Trung. The participating groups will wear costumes that reflect their own characteristics.
