Quynh Thanh: Diversify forms of membership gathering

(Baonghean) - Identifying the gathering of women into the organization is an important task. Therefore, in recent times, the Women's Union of Quynh Thanh Commune (Quynh Luu) has actively innovated the content and methods of operation, diversifying the types of activities to attract members.

With 100% of women being Catholics, women often focus on religious activities. Therefore, the rate of women joining the association is always low. Every year, most of the branches do not develop any members, so many local movement activities are ineffective. To attract women to the association, in 2014, branch 5 of Thanh Xuan Parish, Quynh Thanh Commune was chosen by the Standing Committee of the Commune Women's Union as a model for developing members. To achieve the target assigned by the Commune Women's Union, the branch president of branch 5 must improve his/her working capacity, sense of responsibility, and practice communication and persuasion skills to change the thinking and awareness of women.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nghiem, Head of Branch 5, said: When I was chosen as a model for developing members, as the head of the branch, I determined that I had to change the way I communicated. With the method of "slow and steady wins the race", I chose the right time to go to each family to talk about the meaning and role of the association, about the rights and obligations of women when participating in the association... Many new members were hesitant at first and did not want to participate for many reasons. Therefore, we had to convince them with reasonable and emotional words. Up to now, we have convinced dozens of women to join the association and pay their membership fees in full and on time as prescribed. Before 2013, Branch 5 only maintained 33 members, but in 2014, the branch grew to 95 members, reaching a 50% attendance rate. In the first 6 months of 2015, the association continued to develop, attracting 50 more members to join. The association's movements and activities are increasingly growing.

To attract women to participate in the organization, in recent times, the Women's Union of Quynh Thanh commune has directed its branches to organize activities well according to the regulations. At the same time, integrate topics and contents into activities such as "7 good things in life, 3 good things in religion", the campaign to build a family of "5 no, 3 clean". Propaganda, guide women on how to be mothers, wives in the family and raise children scientifically. In addition, actively organize activities to celebrate the association's major holidays such as International Women's Day (March 8) and Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20). In addition, the Women's Union of the commune has also directed its branches to establish a fund to visit and encourage women who are unfortunately sick or in trouble. Establish associations, wards, and savings groups to support each other without interest or with low interest rates to invest in buying plants and seedlings to expand production. Through that, women have changed their thinking, understood the benefits and meaning of participating in social organizations.

Innovated the content of the association's activities to be suitable and in harmony with reality; and met the thoughts and feelings of women in religious areas. The content of the activities must be really close, sometimes just situations in daily life such as mother-in-law - daughter-in-law, gender equality, career guidance, teaching children a trade... to attract members to participate. From there, creating favorable conditions for all religious women in the commune to exchange and learn from each other. At the same time, creating relationships, close and intimate feelings among the sisters to work together to develop the association more and more."
