Quynh Xuan: Child drowned in Len Chua stone mining area
(Baonghean) -At 5:00 p.m. yesterday, August 25, 2011, Ho Huu Tai (8 years old, 3rd grade student at Quynh Xuan B Primary School, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An) drowned while swimming in a lake in the Len Chua stone mining area (Quynh Xuan).
The place where Ho Huu Tai drowned.
According to local people, at around 5pm due to the hot weather, 4 boys went to the lake to swim and unfortunately Tai drowned. Seeing his friend drown, the other 3 boys were scared and ran away. An hour later, local people discovered Tai's body floating and pulled it to shore. The scene of the incident was a lake about 500m2 wide, with a water depth of about 2.5m, dug by the owner of the lake, Nguyen Van Huong (Thanh Xuan Company Limited, Quynh Xuan) to exploit underground rocks. Around the lake, there were no signs or fences warning of dangerous deep water.
Recently, in many localities across the country, there have been many accidents of children drowning due to the indifference of investors and businesses digging lakes and abysses for construction projects without filling them up after completion.
