At the meeting, Mr. To Huy Rua, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee, announced the Politburo's Decision on the establishment of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption under the Politburo. The Steering Committee consists of 16 members, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Afterwards, the Steering Committee was introduced.
Next, the Steering Committee members listened to reports and discussed the expected assignment of tasks with members; Report on anti-corruption work in the recent past; Report on basic information on some major cases that need attention and direction; Work program for 2013.
Concluding the meeting, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong stated that the establishment of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption is to implement Resolution No. 5 of the Central Committee (11th tenure). This comes from objective requirements, from objective requirements with a higher desire and determination to create a new, more obvious change in the fight against corruption and waste.
The fight against corruption has been done many times by our Party, considered a "national disaster" and needs to be continued persistently, resolutely, and long-term. This time we will proceed on the basis of inheriting what has been done, and adding new points and developing. This is an extremely important but extremely complicated and difficult task because it involves material interests, money, fame, individualism, and affects people in positions of power. This time, the advantage is that the whole Party and the whole people are very concerned; our Party is determined to fight against corruption.
The establishment of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption under the Politburo with the standing body being the Central Internal Affairs Committee will create a legal basis and higher effectiveness in anti-corruption. However, the Committee is also under great pressure due to the expectations of cadres, party members and people. The General Secretary requested that in the Committee's activities in a large, complex and difficult field, it is necessary to first of all have a firm grasp of the functions, tasks, responsibilities, powers, regimes, working methods and working relationships; Inherit and promote the experience of previous Steering Committees, learn from what has been done and what has not been done; Organize work closely, work seriously, scientifically and responsibly, be a united collective and coordinate work very smoothly.
Each member and each cadre working in this field must be exemplary, "honest, brave, upright, and upright", meaning they must be clean, courageous, upright, honest, impartial, and not be tempted by any interests. Only by doing so will the people believe. The standing body, the Internal Affairs Committee, must soon be reorganized and its staff arranged in a refined and effective manner. The General Secretary requested that each comrade in the Steering Committee actively participate in the common work of the Committee. Based on the opinions contributed at this meeting, the program and key tasks for 2013 and the entire term will be clearly determined./.
