GM's new Chevrolet Colorado launch stirs up the pickup truck market

Determined to expand its market share in the pickup truck market, GM Vietnam has just launched 4 new versions of the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck with very competitive prices, from 599 million to 749 million VND.

Launching 4 versions of Chevrolet Colorado at competitive prices, GM Vietnam aims for high growth in the pickup truck line in 2015.

These are all models imported from Thailand and have 8 colors to choose from, including orange, a new color.

All 4 versions of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado possess the famous 2nd generation Duramax turbocharged engine of the American car company. There are 2 engine versions introduced with capacities of 2.5 liters and 2.8 liters, respectively, with capacities from 161 horsepower to 193 horsepower.

These are all imported car models from Thailand.

Specifically: in addition to the LTZ 2.8 liter MT 4x4 version, GM Vietnam added the LTZ 2.8 liter AT 4x4, LT 2.5 liter MT 4x4 and LT 2.5 liter MT 4x2 versions. Of which, Colorado LTZ 2.8L AT 4x4 is the most advanced version with a capacity of 193 horsepower at 3,600 rpm, maximum torque of 500 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The car uses a 6-speed automatic transmission, this is also the only version that owns this transmission.

In the highest version, Colorado 2015 is equipped with Halogen headlights, lens fog lights, electric rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, LED taillights. Some details on the car are chrome-plated as highlights, the interior is covered with soft leather, 6-way electric driver's seat, automatic air conditioning, 6-speaker sound system or LED clock. The highlight in the car's interior is Chevrolet's exclusive MyLink infotainment system. Drivers can make calls, view contacts or read messages, listen to music from their smartphones.

The new Colorado has the most torque in the automatic pickup segment and the most power in the manual segment.

The remaining two versions of Colorado both have a 2.5-liter engine combined with a 6-speed manual transmission for a maximum capacity of 161 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and torque of 380 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

Inside the interior is upholstered in fabric, electric driver's seat, 4-speaker sound system. The car is still equipped with two front airbags similar to the 2.8-liter engine version. Of the two versions above, the Corolla LT 2.5L MT 4x2 is the lowest version, different in the 2-wheel drive system.

The retail price applied by GM Vietnam for the LTZ 2.8L AT 4x4 version is 749 million VND, the LTZ 2.8L MT 4x4 version is 719 million VND, the LT 2.5L MT 4x4 version is 629 million VND and the LT 2.5L MT 4x2 version is 599 million VND.

With many options and prices considered quite competitive, GM Vietnam clearly shows its determination to regain the pickup truck market. In 2014, the pickup truck line had a growth rate of 168% compared to 2013. However, with only one version before, Colorado could not compete with strong rivals such as Ford Ranger, Mazda BT 50, Hilux...
