Launching of Red Cross First Aid Point in Dien Chau
(Baonghean.vn)-On the morning of May 17, in Dien Yen commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An), Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Association held a ceremony to launch the Red Cross First Aid Point.in Dien Chau, to help victims of traffic accidents on National Highway 1A.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, representatives of the People's Committee of Dien Chau district and volunteers participating in the First Aid Point.

The project to build a Red Cross First Aid Point in Dien Chau district is a sub-component of the project "Building a safe community against climate change and disaster risks in Vietnam in the period 2015-2017" funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Participating in the project, volunteers are trained in basic knowledge of first aid for traffic accident victims, given first aid kits and certificates of operation; the first aid point is licensed by the Department of Health to provide some first aid equipment such as medicine cabinets, stretchers, etc.

The Red Cross Emergency Point in Dien Chau has 60 volunteers participating, of which the First Aid Point in Hamlet 16, Dien Yen Commune (Yen Ly intersection) has 20 volunteers from 3 communes: Dien Truong, Dien Yen and Dien Hong; the remaining 40 volunteers come from 9 communes that National Highway 1A passes through, with an average of 4-5 people per commune.

Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of Nghe An Red Cross asked volunteers to promote their sense of responsibility and volunteerism according to the association's operating principles, and to promptly organize first aid when traffic accidents occur; Dien Chau district and related sectors should create favorable conditions to support the pilot model to operate effectively and serve as a basis for replication in the coming time.

Dien Chau district currently has 58 km of National Highway 1A, National Highway 7A, 7B, National Highway 48 running through it and is one of the districts where traffic accidents often occur. In 2015 and 2016, there were 73 traffic accidents, including 7 railway accidents, killing 54 people and injuring 53 people; notably, about 10% of people died or were permanently disabled due to not receiving timely first aid./.
