As rumored, Apple has officially introduced two new iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with sizes of 4.7" and 5.5" respectively. Both have the same design and are similar to what was leaked. The first impression is the thin design of 6.9mm of the iPhone 6 and 7.1mm of the iPhone 6 Plus. Regarding the screen, the two new screen devices that Apple calls Retina HD have higher resolution and pixel density than the iPhone Retina screen. These two products also use the new Apple A8 processor for the first time, which is 50 times more powerful than the processor of the first iPhone and 84 times better graphics processing. The memory of the two devices is also increased to 128GB and the price remains unchanged as usual.
Display and design
The iPhone 6 has a 4.7" screen with a resolution of 750 x 1,334 pixels for a pixel density of 326ppi. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5" screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels for a pixel density of up to 401ppi. Apple still uses an IPS LCD panel and with such a pixel density, the new iPhone does not really stand out compared to high-end Android devices.
We can see that the four edges of the new iPhone screen are all rounded, meticulously polished and seamlessly integrated into the round frame of the device. This design can be associated with Lumia phones.
On the iPhone 6 Plus with a large 5.5" screen, we have an additional horizontal interface, optimizing the content displayed horizontally. For example, when you access the Mail application, one side will be the email list, the other side will be the content display, similar to a tablet.
Camera
Apple didn't upgrade the 8MP resolution of the camera, but only changed the components to bring better quality. We have a pixel size on the completely new sensor of 1.5µm and an aperture of F2.2, compared to the previous iPhone 5s of 1.4µm and an aperture of F2.4. This shows that the sensor's ability to absorb light will be better. This sensor also has a phase-detection feature that Apple calls Focus Pixels, providing better subject and scene distance recognition, thereby improving the ability to focus.
The iPhone 6 Plus camera will protrude from the flat surface of the device because it must integrate a new generation of optical image stabilization system. Normally, the OIS feature on current phone lines only moves the lens cluster horizontally, but Apple has added the ability to stabilize the image vertically, optimizing the focus with Focus Pixels.
Hardware power
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are equipped with the Apple A8 processor with 64-bit computing technology. This is Apple's second-generation 64-bit processor. It is manufactured on a 20 nanometer line with 2 billion transistors inside, providing 50 times faster performance than the first iPhone and 84 times faster graphics processing. In terms of hardware, we also have a major upgrade, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus versions with a huge memory capacity of 128GB.
Apple Pay
The new generation iPhone 6 has officially integrated an NFC chip to simplify payments, replacing credit cards in some countries, especially the United States. Apple has worked with card switching partners such as VISA, MasterCard, American Express and banks to bring a new mobile payment solution, helping users just bring their phones and tap NFC on compatible devices at the checkout counter to use. In addition, Apple also uses Touch ID to ensure security for this payment.
Selling price
As usual, Apple has only announced the price of the version with a 2-year contract with a carrier in the United States. They have removed the 32GB version, so we have 3 versions of each type: 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB, with the same price as last year. The iPhone 6 Plus costs $100 more than the iPhone 6. The countries that will distribute the product in the first queue on September 19 include: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia. We will have to wait a while for the international version.
