Launching the 2015 Traffic Safety Year

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 10, in Vinh city, the Provincial People's Committee held a launching ceremony to respond to the Traffic Safety Year 2015.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of provincial departments, branches, leaders of Vinh City People's Committee and armed forces, youth union members, students in Vinh City.

Ensuring traffic order and safety is always an important factor contributing to economic development and social stability, directly related to the lives and property of each citizen.

In 2014, the whole province had 304 traffic accidents, killing 200 people and injuring 240 people. Of these, there were 285 road traffic accidents, killing 184 people and injuring 236 people; 19 railway accidents, killing 16 people and injuring 4 people. All 21 districts, cities and towns in the province had traffic accidents, with 5 localities including Hoang Mai town, Do Luong district, Anh Son, Con Cuong and Cua Lo town having an increase in the number of deaths compared to 2014. In particular, in Hoang Mai town, the number of deaths due to accidents increased by 6 people compared to 2014, and in Do Luong district, the number of deaths increased by 5 people. On national highways, provincial roads, and even inter-commune roads in the province, black spots with tragic accidents and heartbreaking deaths are appearing. Although for many consecutive years, traffic accidents have decreased in all three criteria of number of cases, deaths and injuries in Nghe An, which has been highly appreciated by the Government and the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Traffic accidents have decreased but not really sustainable, human and property damage caused by traffic accidents is still at a high level, violations of traffic safety laws still occur a lot...

Forces launched to respond to Traffic Safety Year 2015

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong requested and called on all agencies, departments, business owners and all people to enhance their responsibility in complying with traffic safety laws and effectively implement the "Traffic Safety Year 2015". Immediately after the launching ceremony in Vinh city, all districts, cities and towns in the province must simultaneously launch campaigns in their localities, strengthen inspection and supervision of traffic safety law enforcement and raise awareness and responsibility of the heads of each agency, unit, department, branch, organization and locality.

At the launching ceremony, representatives of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial Youth Union and Vinh City People's Committee spoke and called on people to respond to the contents of the traffic safety year.

Immediately after the ceremony, working groups set out to clear violations of traffic corridors and safety on roads in Vinh city and districts, towns and cities in the province.
