Launching to respond to National Week on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (April 27), in Vinh City, the launching ceremony for the National Week of Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation 2012 took place. Attending the launching ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of a number of provincial departments and branches, and more than 2,000 youth union members.

In recent years, implementing the National Strategy for Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many policies and strategies to mobilize maximum resources to invest in the construction of clean water supply works, sanitation works, livestock farms and environmental protection; promote and launch many movements to preserve water resources, protect the environment, build green, clean and beautiful villages...

Up to now, the whole province has had more than 80% of rural people using hygienic water, of which more than 23% use clean water according to the standards issued by the Ministry of Health, over 60% of households have hygienic toilets and livestock barns, building clean and green villages is becoming a competitive movement in all regions of the province, contributing to improving people's lives, while changing the face of the countryside of our province today.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in order to effectively implement the National Week on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation in 2012, all levels, sectors, mass organizations and all people in the province, with the core being youth union members, students, need to focus on promoting propaganda work, raising public awareness of clean water and environmental sanitation; focus on consolidating, maintaining and expanding models of sustainable and effective management and use of centralized water supply works; organize maintenance, repair and speed up the construction progress of clean water works, wastewater treatment, waste collection and treatment... to build a movement for the whole population to actively participate in protecting the environment, for the health and life of the community.

Immediately after the ceremony, the Provincial Youth Union organized propaganda activities in response to the national week on clean water and environmental sanitation with the participation of more than 1,000 youth union members.
