The above request was made by the Ministry of Health after receiving information about the nutritional product Karicare formula containing whey protein concentrate, produced by Fonterra New Zealand Company, being contaminated with Clostridium Botulinum bacteria.

According to information from the Food Safety Department, following the information about Fonterra - New Zealand's whey protein concentrate being contaminated with Clostridium Botulinum bacteria, on August 4, 2013, the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries officially announced that Karicare products manufactured by Nutricia Company (New Zealand) may be contaminated with Clostridium Botulinum bacteria.

According to the above announcement, the products include: Karicare Formula No. 1 (for children from 0-6 months old) with batch numbers 3169 and 3170; expiry dates June 17, 2016 and June 18, 2016.

Karicare Gold+ Follow on Formula No. 2 (for children from 6-12 months old) with batch number D3183; expiry date 12/31/2014.

The above products are only sold in the New Zealand market and have been voluntarily recalled by Nutrica Company in the New Zealand market.

New Zealand company Nutricia has also officially announced that the Karicare products that may be contaminated with Clostridium Botulinum bacteria are only sold in the New Zealand market and that other Nutricia Karicare product lines are not affected and are not subject to recall. This incident is also not related to any Nutricia products sold in the Australian market.

Immediately after receiving this information, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) urgently reviewed all Karicare products of Nutricia Company that have been announced to the Department since the beginning of 2012 until now.

The review results show that no Karicare products for children under 12 months of age have been announced by the Department. However, to ensure food safety for Vietnamese consumers, the Food Safety Department has sent an official dispatch requesting Australia Nutrition Company Limited - the importer of Karicare products into Vietnam to urgently compile statistics on the import of Karicare products and report to the Food Safety Department before August 6, 2013.

The Food Safety Department will continue to update related information./.
