(Baonghean) - If before, Pham Dinh Toai Street was a suburban road, now it is known as a spacious road with asphalt pavement, surrounded by newly built high-rise buildings, close together, in a neat row, creating a beautiful whole. However, there is an image that is currently making this road worse, that is every afternoon a large garbage dump appears.

Garbage is collected on Pham Dinh Toai Street at the end of every afternoon, causing environmental pollution in this area.

The large spontaneous landfill is located on Pham Dinh Toai Street, Yen Toan Block, Ha Huy Tap Ward (Vinh City), where there are many residential houses. Every afternoon, around 6pm, when passing this street, a common sight that people often encounter is the dense smoke and dust emanating from the landfill and the foul smell.

At this time, garbage trucks filled with plastic bags of garbage after a day of collection in residential areas in Ha Huy Tap ward are all gathered here. Workers start gathering trash bins and burning them, creating smoke and unpleasant odors, affecting the lives and activities of residents as well as passersby. Especially on these hot summer days, the ashes from the landfill are also a potential fire hazard.

Not only do they have to endure the smoke and dust at the time of burning, but every day, residents near this landfill also have to endure the musty, foul smell of many types of waste. The landfill is also a gathering place for insects and animals such as flies, mosquitoes, rats, frogs, etc., which means that people are living close to a high risk of disease.

Most of the people in the area around the landfill complained about this irresponsibility. Mr. Tr. - who lives near the landfill said: "The landfill has been operating here for more than a year. Since the landfill was built, we have had to endure terrible air pollution. Especially in the late afternoon, when the garbage trucks gather, it falls right at mealtime for many families, so many days we cannot eat."

Pham Dinh Toai Street, which connects Ha Huy Tap Street to Nghi Phu New Urban Area, has a high traffic density with all kinds of vehicles from motorbikes, cars, trucks, buses, etc. In the late afternoon when the garbage burning takes place, the traffic is even more crowded. Smoke and dust from the garbage burning at the landfill also obstructs and obstructs the drivers' vision. Moreover, many drivers, because of the dark, mistake the landfill for an empty lot, sometimes accidentally driving into it and causing accidents.

Discussing this issue, Mr. Pham Van Toan - Head of Yen Toan Block, Ha Huy Tap Ward said: "The landfill is not managed by the block but by Nghe An Urban Environment Company Limited. I do not agree with this landfill being here. In addition to pollution, soil, rocks, and household waste are also dumped here. We contacted Nghe An Urban Environment Company Limited but it has not been resolved yet."

I think it is necessary to move the landfill away from densely populated areas soon.
