Rafael Nadal dethrones Djokovic at Rome Masters
Rafael Nadal has officially taken the Rome Masters title from Novak Djokovic after winning 7-5, 6-3 in the final after 2 hours and 21 minutes. This victory also helped him successfully "avenge" the loss to his opponent exactly 1 year ago.
This is Rafael Nadal's third title of the current season after Monte Carlo and Barcelona Open, and also his 35th title on clay, including 6 titles in Rome.
Thus, in 32 times facing each other, Nadal has won 18 times, compared to 14 times for Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. The Spanish tennis player has defeated Djokovic 11 times on clay courts.
With this championship, the "king of clay" also increased his number of Masters 1000 titles to 21, and at the same time brought him back to world number 2 from Roger Federer - the player who "robbed" this position from him exactly 1 week ago after winning the Madrid Masters.
Nadal's Rome Masters title was well deserved as he showed impressive form without losing a single set. However, it must be admitted that Nadal's path to the finals at the Rome Masters did not have many potential opponents to cause trouble.

Meanwhile, Djokovic had to go through a difficult journey when facing big opponents like Roger Federer in the semi-finals, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals, and even struggled to get past the third round when facing a player with an annoying playing style like Juan Monaco.
With this championship, Nadal will certainly create a lot of momentum before entering Roland Garros - the 2nd Grand Slam tournament of the year and also where he will compete as the defending champion.
Back to the main events of the Rome Masters 2012 final. The first set of the match was very tense in the first 10 games, when both players won a break point. However, the drama happened in the 11th game, Novak Djokovic held the serve and led 40-15, but he made too many unforced errors, allowing Nadal to take the lead 6-5 with 1 turning point to break.
After that mistake, Djokovic tormented himself and vented his anger by smashing his racket - not a good image at all, especially when he is the world number 1 tennis player and the reigning Rome Masters champion. As for Nadal, in the excitement after winning an important break point and having the advantage of serving, he easily overcame his opponent to win the first set with a score of 7-5.
Djokovic had a disappointing day.
Entering set 2, Djokovic's frustration still seemed to have not subsided after losing set 1. The proof was that he lost a break point in his first service game, giving Nadal the momentum to lead 1-0, 2-1 and then 4-3.
However, that is also what Novak Djokovic could do in this match when Nadal with great determination won the remaining 2 games to end the first set with a score of 6-3, thereby stepping up to the Rome Masters championship for the 6th time with a final score of 7-5, 6-3./.
