(Baonghean) - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted celebrates its 50th anniversary of the specialized system, its 40th anniversary of its founding, and receives the title of Hero of Labor. This is a great honor, recognizing the tireless efforts of generations of teachers and students, but it is also a challenge, requiring the school to make greater efforts in the coming time to maintain its position as a leading bird in the education sector of the province and the whole country. On this occasion, Nghe An Newspaper reporters interviewed Meritorious Teacher Dau Van Mui, Principal of the school.

Reporter: Principal, the title of Hero of Labor is an award that the Party and the State bestowed upon the school, a recognition of the school's efforts over the past 50 years, especially in the last 10 years. So, could you please tell us about the school's outstanding achievements in teaching and learning?

Principal Dau Van Mui: Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted was established on October 15, 1974 on the basis of the province's specialized Math classes (since 1965) and Literature classes (since 1969). Over the past 50 years, especially in the last 10 years, the school has achieved many outstanding achievements. Firstly, the school has done a good job of discovering, training and nurturing talented, intelligent and creative students. The initial recruitment areas were mainly plains and cities; currently, mountainous districts, coastal areas, and difficult rural areas in the whole province have students studying. Students with difficult circumstances are taken care of by the school, the parents' association, and the classes so that they can study with peace of mind and train to become talented, such as Nguyen Tat Nghia (Do Luong), Nguyen Canh Toan (Thanh Chuong), the three sisters Dang Thi Thuy, Dang Thi Chung, Dang Trong Ton (Yen Thanh)...

The History, Geography, and Russian majors are difficult to recruit, but the school has made efforts and persevered in preserving and developing them; the training results of these major classes are quite good; Having 11 majors is a very important criterion for the school to be ranked as a national key major school. Second: Building a team of teachers: Currently, the school has 107 people, 58 party members, 2 doctors, 2 doctoral students, more than 80 masters, generations of teachers are always united, striving to cultivate and improve, self-training in all aspects to meet the requirements and assigned tasks. The example of work, love for the profession, spirit of solidarity, common intelligence, common heart of teachers are beautiful images, the basic reason why many excellent students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted choose the teaching profession to start a career and succeed.

Third: The quality of training excellent students at national, regional and international levels is excellent and sustainable. The school has had students participate in regional and international competitions 26 times in the subjects of Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics and Chemistry with 4 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 8 Bronze Medals and 2 certificates of merit. The number of excellent students at national level is always among the top in the country every year, especially in the 2013-2014 school year with 84 prizes, including 4 First Prizes, 33 Second Prizes, 33 Third Prizes and 14 Encouragement Prizes, ranking first in the country. Along with improving the quality of culture, the school always attaches importance to physical education activities, arts, outdoor activities, domestic and international exchanges, club activities, encourages scientific and technical research, poetry writing, volunteer activities, etc. Thereby, students understand and love their homeland and country more, as well as cultivate and practice the necessary qualities to start a career. With university entrance exam results always among the top in the country, the school has had tens of thousands of students enter university, becoming both red and professional cadres, serving the cause of building and defending the country, many of whom are Labor Heroes, academicians, professors, doctors, managers, and leading experts in many fields domestically and internationally.

Reporter: One of the most remarkable achievements of the school in recent years is the rapid increase in the number of international, regional and national excellent students. In particular, in the 2013-2014 school year, the school ranked first in the country in the number of students achieving national excellent students. What is the school's contribution to these achievements?

Principal Dau Van Mui: In my opinion, the factors contributing to the above achievements are, first of all, the team of managers, teachers, and employees who are thoroughly trained and self-trained, and dedicated to the teaching profession and to students. The diligence, dedication, utmost effort, accumulation of experience and knowledge; the collaboration, joint efforts to help and share with each other in work and life; the determination in performing tasks and harmony in management... are the outstanding features of the school's teaching staff, creating internal strength and the ability to make a strong breakthrough. Next is the tradition of studiousness of the homeland, the land that for thousands of years has chosen education as the path to career development; the land where in every era and generation there are many students who are talented, determined, modest, confident, self-learning, creative, ambitious and full of dreams.

The good training environment of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has helped excellent students have the conditions to strive, cultivate, rise up and shine. Especially the attention and care of the Party Committee and the people of the province, of organizations, individuals inside and outside the province, including international ones, the joint efforts and hearts of generations of parents. Over the years, the care for building a team of teachers, ensuring policies and regimes to encourage learning and talent have always been considered important. In 2010, the Provincial People's Committee had a "Project to build Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted into a high-quality key school in the period 2010 - 2020"; with many preferential policies for teachers and students.

On this occasion, I would also like to sincerely thank the Party Committee and the people of the province for their attention, affection and trust in the school, and thank the organizations, unions, individuals and generations of parents who have accompanied the school in the cause of training human resources and nurturing talents for the homeland and the country over the past 50 years.

Reporter: Currently, the education sector is implementing innovation in the spirit of Resolution No. 29 of the 8th Central Executive Committee Conference (11th term). As a specialized school, what is the school's leadership's view on this issue and solutions to implement in the coming time, especially to maintain and continue to promote the Labor Hero unit?

Principal Dau Van Mui: Fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education in the spirit of Resolution 29 of the 8th Central Committee Conference (11th term) is necessary, urgent, and must be done drastically and synchronously. For the school, we have determined that we need to focus on the following basic solutions: First: Focus on building a team with sufficient quantity, ensuring quality, having a plan for training and self-training in expertise, IT, and foreign languages ​​for managers, teachers, and employees to meet the requirements of modern education and regional and international integration. Build a cooperative relationship, harmonious and dedicated colleagues to ensure inheritance and development, innovate teaching methods in the direction of promoting intelligence, encouraging interest and creativity, arousing self-study ability, nurturing passion, aspiration, and advancement in students. Second: Stabilize the enrollment area in the whole province, improve the enrollment quality in all specialized subjects, focus on early detection, have a plan to nurture gifted students, creative students. Organize comprehensive educational activities well so that students' individual abilities can develop. Third: Ensure conditions to serve teaching, learning, health training, collective activities so that students can develop equally in both general and specialized subjects.

Nghe An is a long-standing cultural and educational center. Overcoming difficulties and taking education as the foundation is a characteristic of the people of Nghe An. The desire to conquer and strive to excel, generations of teachers and students of the school are typical examples of that spirit. Therefore, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has become a proud name of the education sector of the province and Nghe An, respected and loved by friends across the country and internationally.
