Real Madrid at risk of losing 3 stars for World Cup play-off round

Ronaldo, Bale and Modric may all have to compete for a World Cup ticket in early November.

Portugal and Croatia both finished second in their European qualifying groups. If nothing changes in today’s final round (October 10), they will have to play two play-off matches in early November.

If the team fails to win the final qualifying round, Ronaldo, Modric and Kovaic will all have to play two play-off matches.

When the above risk becomes a reality, Real will have to lose three stars including Ronaldo, Modric and Kovacic. This is a big disadvantage for the reigning La Liga champion before the Madrid derby with Atletico on November 20, the match takes place at Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

The Madrid derby is in round 12. And Real have four more games to prepare and earn more points.

Real is currently ranked fifth in La Liga with 14 points after the first seven rounds. Meanwhile, Atletico is ranked one place higher and has a one-point advantage.

Barca are leading the league with 21 points. To catch up with their rivals, Real need to regain their form soon and win key matches.
