Car manufacturing robots

Robots are becoming more and more intelligent and appearing in car manufacturing processes, putting many people at risk of losing their jobs in the future.

Prime is the name of the “character” who is the leader of the Autobot group in the Transformers series. Now there is also a robot with the same name in real life but to serve humans instead of fighting like in the movies.

Thanks to a technology called LIDAR, Prime can recognize what it is doing. Similar to the technology used in today's semi-autonomous cars. WithLIDAR,Prime adds the ability to use lasers to calculate distances while moving. This product is from General Electric (GE), USA.

It is one of many plans to create intelligent robots to be applied more in the work of large companies. Especially in the field of car manufacturing.

“We’re getting to a point in the future where robots are smarter and more like friendly workers, and we’re seeing signs of that as companies are starting to take notice and start implementing their plans,” Ian Simmons, vice president of commercial development for Magna International, told USA Today. Magna is a Canadian company that supplies parts to U.S. and global automakers.

Simmons said several companies, including GE, are testing intelligent robots. He hopes Magna could roll out a similar plan within the next five to 10 years.

In fact, robots have been present in car factories for many years. They take on tasks such as assembling components, finishing welds or painting cars. Meanwhile, humans still play an important role in completing a car. Not to mention super luxury cars, which require meticulous manual manufacturing, the role of humans is even more prominent.

However, the prospect of robots gradually replacing humans in factories is not far away. Because the cost of smart sensors used in robots is gradually decreasing, technology is increasingly developing. That is when small parts such as arms or complete robots are "closer" to humans. "However, safety is extremely important and manufacturers must be absolutely sure that they do not have a negative impact on people when working" - Simmons added.

Robots with advanced technology have a significant impact on the number of human jobs in auto factories. Although company leaders often argue that instead of losing their jobs, people are asked to do other more complex and advanced jobs.
