Rafael Nadal proved he is still the king of kings on clay when he defeated Djokovic in three straight sets in the Roland Garros final.

CHANGE TACTICS, GET A WIN

Before the final, Djokovic was the more highly rated player, although Djokovic's odds of facing Nadal were lower, but in recent matches, Nole was the winner. Most recently at the Rome Master, Djokovic defeated Nadal too easily, which made many people believe that the Serbian player would not have a hard time dethroning Nadal at Roland Garros.

But all Djokovic could do was in set 1. Nole quickly won 6-3 in this set when Nadal's strategy of hitting the ball close to the baseline was not really good.

In set 2, Nadal continued to use the long ball tactic (something he rarely sees), proactively pushing close to the baseline, surprising Djokovic and also limiting many of Djokovic's attacks.

And Nadal succeeded in set 2, although the score had to be stretched to 7-5. And from set 2 onwards, from the moment Djokovic was so frustrated that he slammed his racket on the ground, fans at Philippe Chatrier Stadium did not believe in Nole's ability to overthrow the throne but instead started calculating what records Nadal would reach if he won the championship.

In the last 2 sets, Djokovic seemed to have run out of tricks with extremely bad backhand shots and had to give up his racket to Nadal with scores of 2-6 and 4-6 (VIDEO).

THE GREAT NADAL

With a 3-1 win over Djokovic, Rafael Nadal equaled the legend Pete Sampras when he reached the 14th Grand Slam of his career.

But while Sampras, the king of the swing, only won Roland Garros once (1996), Nadal has now become the greatest player in the history of this tournament.

Nadal, from 2005 to present, has played a total of 9 Roland Garros finals and won all 9. He only missed one in 2009 due to injury and was eliminated in the 4th round.

Winning 9 titles in 10 years, no one else but Nadal can do the same extraordinary thing. He has written his name into the highest position in the history of the oldest clay court tournament in the world.

At 28 years old, with his current extremely strong physical condition, Nadal is completely capable of conquering new heights. Let's wait and see how Nadal will perform at Wimbledon, the world's biggest tournament, which opens on June 23.
