Amidst the bustling sound of gongs and drums, people in Hien village and many other villages in the commune listen to music and drink rice wine in the joy of celebrating the new year.

Entering the new year, families with gongs and drums will choose an auspicious day to hold a gong festival, usually after the 2nd day and lasting until the end of the Lunar New Year. Almost all Thai women know how to play gongs. Tet is an occasion for everyone to show off their gong and drum skills.
