Bustling national festival in Vinh City

Joining the bustling atmosphere of the whole people in the big festival, students in Vinh city also eagerly went to vote with great confidence and expectation. The large hall of Vinh University in polling area No. 4, Ben Thuy ward - the place chosen as the live broadcast point of "Election Day" was filled with a forest of flags and the familiar green color of the youth union's uniform. As one of the polling stations with the largest number of voters in Nghe An province (1,400 people), including 900 student voters, the atmosphere of "Election Day" was very exciting from the beginning.

Most of the students who held the ballot for the first time to exercise their rights and obligations as citizens in the election shared the same feeling of confusion mixed with excitement and pride. "Holding the ballot in my hand, I feel more mature and responsible. I believe that I have chosen worthy representatives to elect to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels, including young and female representatives" - student Nguyen Thi Bac - class K50A kindergarten, one of the earliest voters present emotionally expressed.
What was particularly interesting at Vinh University was the presence of Laotian students coming to witness and share the joy of the national festival with Vietnamese students and together foster the Vietnam-Laos friendship. In the joyful and excited atmosphere, Sivon RueVaibounthavy (Head of the Laotian Student Delegation at Vinh University) shared: “Our country Laos has just gone through the National Assembly election. Unfortunately, due to busy school work, my fellow Laotian students and I cannot return to our homeland to exercise our rights and obligations as citizens. Being able to witness the election day at Vinh University, I feel that this is truly a day of solidarity and democracy for the Vietnamese people and especially, the students are exercising their rights as citizens, very responsible and meaningful. I would like to send my congratulations to all Vietnamese voters.”

The live TV program about the election at Nghe An bridge point only "aired" for 12 minutes but left a good impression on the majority of voters nationwide about the atmosphere of the national festival - the youth festival. According to news from polling station No. 4, Ben Thuy ward (located at Vinh University), by 9:00 a.m. on May 22, 81% of voters participated in the vote, of which the percentage of student voters participating in the vote reached over 90%.
Despite being busy with business and trading, in big and small markets in Vinh city, traders still take the time to vote at the polling stations in their residential areas. The ballot box of Constituency No. 2, Hung Dung Ward, was crowded with voters at 6:30 a.m. Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, Tan Tien Block, said: "I took the opportunity to vote early so I can go to the market in time. I do business all year, all month, and the election day only comes once, so I have to fulfill my civic responsibilities."
Thanks to the good implementation of propaganda and campaigning work before the election, not only Ms. Binh but also more than 300 traders in Hung Dung market voluntarily went to 10 polling stations in the area to participate in selecting delegates representing the voice and aspirations of the people.

From 7am on May 22, the atmosphere at the Provincial General Hospital was more exciting than usual. During the election, there were hundreds of patients being treated at the hospital and dozens of medical staff on duty and working. For the seriously ill patients who had to be hospitalized during this time, voting was an unforgettable memory for many people. At this polling station, 177 voters participated in the vote, including 1 seriously ill patient and 2 relatives of the patient registered to vote. At all polling stations, there was a main ballot box and a mobile secondary ballot box for the sick and infirm who could not move. However, very few sick people had to use the secondary ballot box, because most people wanted to cast their own ballots.
The election day was also an unforgettable memory for 1,217 elderly members of Nghi Phu commune. Mr. Cao Tien Ta, 87 years old, a pre-uprising cadre in hamlet 24 - Nghi Phu commune, despite his poor health and difficulty in moving, still asked his relatives to take him to the polling station to exercise his civil rights. As someone who has been through many National Assembly elections, Mr. Ta is very experienced in selecting and voting for National Assembly and People's Council candidates. "The elderly in my hamlet have been sitting and discussing the action plans of each candidate for the past few days, but choosing who to vote for is the right of each person. Personally, I choose people who have a heart to care for the country and the people," Mr. Ta shared.
