Ronaldo equals Greaves' nearly half-century-old record

Thanks to a double against Sevilla in the match on the evening of May 14, Ronaldo joined legendary Jimmy Greaves as the player with the most goals in the top five European national championships.

Ronaldo and Greaves now have 366 goals in the top five leagues (England, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1). After CR7's breakthrough, another legend, Gerd Muller, has dropped to third place with 365 goals.

Ronaldo needs just one more goal to become the top scorer in the top five leagues. This could soon become a reality with Real Madrid having two more La Liga games to play in 2016-2017 against Celta Vigo and Malaga.

Ronaldo has scored 282 goals in La Liga. The Portuguese star has a lower scoring rate when playing in the Premier League with Man Utd (84 goals).

Messi is now the player most likely to catch and surpass Ronaldo. The Barca striker currently has 346 goals in La Liga.

Ronaldo's brace against Sevilla was his 400th and 401st goal for Real in all competitions. CR7 is the first player to reach this milestone at the Bernabeu, thereby continuing to hold the position of top scorer in the club's history.
